Hi all,

I'm new the forum and I have been doing allot of searching regarding an issue I have but thought i would ask a question. I have a 1994 300tdi discovery manual and Recently hadhe head gasket done inc. Stem seals, valve lapping and soaking everything in parrifin to get soot off. Also done timing belt and decat pipe & de egr. It goes like a train, starts well with no smoke or misfire but smokes on overrun (blue/white). The exhaust is very clean when I accelerate hard. EI have also topped up the header with 2 liked in 400 miles and oil level looks ok.

Is.it.possible.to burn coolant only on over-run? Also smoke is sometimes blue making me think oils but then that still leaves the question of where coolant is going (no external leaks and also done p-gasket. Apologises for the long winded post.

Hi,

Only thing I didn't do. Head face looked good and checked with straight edge for warping. I'm thinking about putting rad weld in til I get a chance to look at it again!

Did you get this sorted? Mine was the same after i changed the timing belt - started and ran well but smoked on overrun until at working temperature. I just advanced the pump timing slightly and i lost all the smoke and it made it go even better.

Not a good idea and rad weld will not fix a high pressure fault if it has one and if it is faulty you risk head or engine

Doesn't explain water loss a cooling system pressure test and new cap to be sure
