Hi everyone, can anyone tell me the reliability and fuel consumption of an early 300tdi Auto disco, and the specification differance between ES, GS and XS models? I have owned 200tdi manual disco for 4 years and I,m well pleased with it, Land rovers are FANTASTIC motors, so if I upgrade in the future I,d like to know what to look for.

By comparison to a TDi 200, the TDi 300 auto will seem rather juicy - we used to get 36mpg out of our 200manual but about 32mpg is what I get out of my modified 300 auto. 300 is a more refined vehicle.

Out of the models you list, the range starts off with GS (leccy windows, locks & mirrors, manual sunroofs), then XS (GS plus half leather, foglights and wheel arch covers) then all-singing ES (XS plus full leather, electric seats, sunroofs, often heated seats and sometimes front screen, improved sound).

Hope that helps

Cheers
Dave
