HELLO
could anyone tell me what the signs of the alternator packing up when i start it the battery light stays on and the rev counter does not work until i drive away then the rev counter starts reading and the light goes out .

Clean the contacts on the alternator first.

Ok then do this As it is a pain and takes time here is a site to explain how to test the lot.
