300 TDI airbox mount

The fun stuff about restoring your Landy is when you've taken it apart, cleaned refinished the rusty bits by arduous labour, etch primer and 2k gloss. Got new replaceable consumables and end up with a kit to put back together.
It's like when you got an air fix kit to build as a kid

the rubber mounts were all quite bad and separating from the metal mounts
But are available

Well time to refit and move on

I put some Tessa (fabric) tape on mine so as not to scratch the air box/straps.

Always thought it odd Land Rover fitted it using two of the head bolts.

Yep, this has caught me out, and after torquing down my newly built head I realised I had not got the bracket on .
So I'm hoping taking the two bolts out and refitting them will not cause total disaster .
I figured since the bolts will have app 4mm less travel I I will use an angle gage to measure their stretch in angular °, the refit to the same it doesn't mess up the head or gasket.I have not tightened the rockers down so there is no spring pressure pulling the head up yet

I have done much the same as you plan with those two head bolts. Spring pressure is minimal compared to to pull of head bolts. Still I recon someone at Land Rover was having an off day and ran out of ideas when they came up with that plan.

Absolutely, too easy to miss the bracket when refitting the head, then realise you just f®©¢¥d up

Like your dial gauge, beats my card disc.

Picked it up from eBay £6.88, it's ok, although I got rid of the plastic covered locking screw and put a small bolt in so the locking pin doesn't shift .
