Hello,

I have three quick questions to ask. I have searched around too, but the search is only showing topics that I have made, or absolutely nothing at all.

1) What type of oil is clutch fluid?
2) How do I drain the clutch fluid / bleed the system?
3) How do I adjust the effectiveness of the clutch master cylinder? (ie. adjusting push rod length)

And my I please just sneak this one in:

Is there anything that I can really bugger up bleeding the clutch system, or any precautions that I should take?

Thanks in advance

1. Clutch fluid is the same as brake fluid, H ence the name Brake and clutch fluid
2. Bleed nipple above where the pipe goes into slave cylinder, loosen it and let fluid out (10 mm spanner req'd) make sure someone is filling up master cylinder while you are underneath controlling the flow.
3. Make sure yer landy is pointin uphill while doing fluid change to minimise air in slave cylinder.
4. check the rubber hose to slave cylinder is not chaffing in chassis leg and leaking fluid (like wot mine did a fortnight ago):D

You can change the bite point by changing the nuts on the push rod, I would not change these unless you feel your clutch bites far too soon or late. The pedal should sit with the actuator just about in contact with the nuts on each side, this means that when the clutch is being depressed it will start moving the rod almost right away but NOTHING while the clutch is not being pressed.

If there is a lot of play before the clutch pedal actuator touches the rod then the clutch bite point will be much sooner (or later to disengage if you like) than if the nuts on the rod are ram jam up against the pedal actuator so in answer to "How do I adjust the effectiveness of the clutch master cylinder? (ie. adjusting push rod length)"; and to do this you need to undo the 6 screws on the plate that covers the top of the clutch box.

Engine's well on its way to being fixed, bt I can't get my rocker shaft to sit back on properly (see other topic). I managed to reach 72mph earlier on today on a bit of bypass on the way to pick up my new head gasket and the gearbox seems to have fixed its self :)
