I appreciate this subject has been beaten to death over the years and have it think I have tried every suggestion made by you guys.
My P is Y reg and as with all Ps the dreaded abs etc won't go away. Well it does for a week or so the hey presto in true style it's back. Everything replace right down to brake light switch. It seems to happen when cold weather hits orrrr I go through a deep puddle (lots where I am) All sensors are fine , sensor rings same, cleaned every connection known to man, under seat every where, had the ecu tested all back fine, fuse box under seat and bonnet all fine argggg.

Please I'm begging if your mercy and sarcasm lol....Heellllpppp before I go insane....Well mrevthan I must be for getting one in the first place

Christ on a bike, only one of you? Did the other 2 Amigos get blown away in their sombreros?

Done to death.

Top right is a search bar, use it, verdicts are unanimous, its usually the faulty bonnet release catch that causes it.

does the search inc what size tyres i can fit

i will get my coat ;):p:D

:p:eek:o_O:) LMAO......knew you could help......The tyre size is 145-10, well I wish it was I had much less probs with the mini, so even if you fit them your coat will need to be nice a fury cos minis are freezing even in summer....Why o Why did I buy another P?

I will follow the verdicts.....could be the bonnet catch mate your right, I've tried everythin else

In all seriousness, harness.

It's the only thing you haven't changed and cold=damp, puddles=water both affect electrical circuits when exposed, I'll bet you've got a little bit of chaffing going on and your wires are shorting out.

True, I haven't....I have had a good look for chaffing and at the moment it is clearly my a** that's chaffing with the money going out lol. One interesting thing though, I was driving it earlier after replacing the airbags this morning, (one blew last night so did em both) and the lights went off, a mile or so later back on they came. I stopped turned ign off started again and out they went, a mile on they came when I had to pull in for a tractor (big bump). This time though I thought sod it and carried on. I did though out of curiosity, turn the ignition off whilst moving and obviously back on straight off, this has cleared the bloody lot for about 20 miles until pulling into my drive. big bump and hey ho here we go again.

I'm trolling through the myriad of info which up to now have tried 98% of what folk are saying. The only other thing which springs to mind is an ABS switch or pump someone is talking about. I don't think it is this though as when the lights are out all works fine. One thing that came up on my tester was 'rough road' sensor no signal, so not sure what that is, but as I say will persevere, and will double check the harness etc.

Thanks for being gentle on me as a newby, as an ex forces the sarcasm, wit and down right p taking suits me to the ground.....love the banter and will give as much back.
Thanks again
Corky

I know the feeling........ I had an S1 many years ago, ex MOD with tank under seat job. It clanked rattled banged, and its ultimate magical trick was to nail your teeth back in every bump sorry pea gravel you went over. P wet through, jumping out to twist the caps, pushing the wipers by hand cos the motor buggered up. (but we could easy fix it when we got back). Ooooooo the days....reminiscing my Mk1 mini with puddin stirrer gear stick, swapping the engine for a 1500 all agro lump and butchering the 5 speed gearbox and the body work (it scared the crap out of a traffic copper who tried it, but the silly sod still bought it off me). I think the days of proper getting your hands stuck in are gone. I know a few mechanics now (sorry technicians) who, if you gave them a gearbox to strip, they would probably leave because its too hard. All they are now is computer techs and new part fitters really. Plug and play, computer says xyz is knacked, bod changes knacked, fault still there so computer plugged in again, another bit knacked, bod changes and so on and so on, until Mr or Mrs customer (sorry, client) is bankrupt because the tech cannot see that unfortunately a lead fell off somewhere Arggggggg bring the old days of plugs points and condensers back any day lmao

You should get into boats. They are still mostly nice and simple to work on, because they aren't subject to as many regs as road vehicles yet.
Still fairly straightforward spannering, if you don't mind cramming yourself into a few tight spaces, and working in strange positions on things you can barely reach.

About the Disco, if that's what you have. I think he is right^^^^^^^, there are a lot of wires on that loom, more than you could ever check visually, and intermittent faults don't always show up on a multimeter. The other thing to look at is battery conditon, the electronics are very sensitive to the state of the battery.

Welcome to LZ, BTW! :)

Thanks for the welcome, tis appreciated, I think it was the sarcy fun and p taking whilst still being informative (ish lol) that made me choose this one of all the others. Funny you should say that about boats, as I'm in the Sea Cadets. Boats anytime, love em. Good old clanking Petters and enfields cant beat em. I've just had the junior section kids 10 year olds, strip an old petter, got all the bits from MOD as in gaskets and seals etc, hopefully in a couple of weeks we should hear it rumble into life. They have loved it. Next project for them is a Volvo!!! ha ha ha....you will hear me swearing from right doon sooth where you is lol.

Marine Volvo should be no problem. Like I said, no emissions controls to speak of. And very little electronics, if any.

Mines a P38 BTW, Battery is brand new too, alternator fireing out as it should also....I'm at my witts end! Braid dead with it now lol. The only thing now I can think of, is (as said earlier I replaced the bags on the rear) I noticed what looked like a slight weep of diff oil, I have since removed the ABS sensor but it is dry, the castle wheel looked wet though, so further investigation required on that front. There was no leak before when the fault started, hence I never looked again, so this was more a lucky find or not as the case may be. I don't think its the overall cause though because of the above, it was as dry as a bone when the fault started.

When you have 10 year olds stripping it, believe me, you need your wits about you lol.....But I say why not, I was allowed to strip my dads Motor Bike in my school hols at 9!! He crapped his pants when I came in and asked for 10 bob for a gallon of juice to start it up. He thought he had me non board throughout the six weeks....NOT A CHANCE library there I went, Suzi Fiz Haynes manual and voila....DAAAAAAD can I have 50p please .... he he he to the crys of Bloooooody elllll

Hi Moron,

No I haven't tbh, Its not long (6 weeks and 2k later) had an MOT so never thought about that. Will check AM. I've noticed to my detriment sometimes that testers aint that good when it comes to Landy's of any guise, especially the young wiper snappers described earlier...:(;)

OK chaps, an update....hang on while I just take this rope from around my neck and release it from the bed post and open window........
As I have mentioned earlier I can be a wee bit dim, and it would appear I have lived up to that. I said I had had the ABS ECU checked, buuuut I didn't! The thing that was checked is under the bonnet and I believe the abs ecu is behind the glove box. Is this correct?. I can't find the bugger anywhere and having been snowed in for a few days I am not into piddling around in the freezing cold at the moment. Reason I ask is I can get one no issue there, but rather than start stripping stuff down, (unless easy) I can order then fit all at once if you get me...

Thanks in advance from num nuts
