I've had the 3 amigo's and HDC lights on my silver Td4 for a while now. The error codes were done ages ago and everything they showed up was replaced. However this didn't solve anything as the lights still came back on soon afterwards. So i just left it. Anyhoo, just before my MOT expired I decided I needed to do something about it once and for all as it would fail the mot with the light illuminated and the HDC didn't work either.
The clocks in my rally Freelander were playing up, the rev and MPH counters remained at zero, so I took them out and put the clocks from my silver one in their place to see whether there was an electrical fault causing the problem , expecting the 3 amigo's and hdc light to extinguish as the clocks were now in a different vehicle - but they remained on as in the silver car.
Then I remembered I had a spare set of clocks (with a lot higher mileage on them) over in my mate's shed and decided to put these in my silver Freelander just to see what would happen. 3 amigo's went out and so did the HDC light. When pushing the HDC button down and placing the vehicle in first or reverse , the light came on, when putting it in neutral the hdc light flashed green as it should. I have now had the clocks mileage set to what they were before and now everything is fine. The lights come on for a few seconds when the car is first started then extinguish and stay off.The HDC now actually works too. They've been in for 3 weeks now with no further problems. The old clocks still show lights regardless of which vehicle they are put in.
I wonder whether this could also be the case with other people who, no matter what they have tried, cannot get rid of the 3 amigo's.
