3.5 v8 not reving out

I have just fitted a v8 in my series 3 ,bought it with siezed engine got it starting but it wont rev out,it seems to flood.I replaced the plugs with 8 new denso plugs the old ones were black.The distributor is electronic.I fitted the resistor to the low tension side of the coil to distributor.is it a vacuum problem,excess fuel,or is the timing out and do i need to adjust distributor.its not missing or backfiring,just powerless when you drive.

Yes as above, it may take some reading but every thing should be cover there. if its strongburg carbs check the diaphrams and see if weights in the dizzy move, is one of many things
