Hi all,

I'm currently doing up my lightweight and i've just got me a 3.5 v8 exhaust from steve parkers.

Now, the old one I just cut off. But now that i'm trying to fit the newer (and wider) one, it's proving to be a nightmare.

No matter which way I try to put it in, it will not go over the middle cross member. It basically has to go down from the manifold, under the first cross member and then up and over the next one before going into a straight (follows the same lines as a 2.25 petrol).

Anyone got any tips on how to put this arsehole of a exhaust on?

Do you have to put it on a proper ramp or is it ok just to jack it up?

Thanks
John

I got a Steve Parker exhaust but for a swb 2.5 NA so may not relevant. But I couldn't get the thing on either ended up jacking really high on blocks- decided it was too dangerous so took the floor out instead.

Or an inspection pit.

I was looking at the pipes thinking, if only they put another joint here, it'd be so much easier.

It has no exhaust at all and I could drive it to work (only a mile away), but wow is it loud!

really not sure what to do!

Ohhh I have a cracking idea.

I will buy a small towing dolly next month and tow it onto camp.

We have truck loading ramps there which would be perfect for fitting that exhaust.

is there a straight bit somewhere usefull? you could cut it and sleeve it when it's on.

Whats the quality like? I was thinking about their complete exhaust for the 200tdi

This exhaust system cost me £325, there's absolutely no way im cutting it! My wife would literally kill me.

The quality is very good, the finish could be better as it's painted a nice dull silver.

Overall I think it's totally too expensive, but no one else makes specialist stuff like this yet so they can charge what they want.

If it were £100 cheaper then i'd be very happy, but it's a big dent in the wallet for a quality system.

Had a similar problem fitting a standard downpipe on my 200di converted series 3,
A combination of two small drive-on ramps and a kerb did the trick :)
