3.5 head change?

I've had a look through forum,but can't find a definitive answer if P38 3.9 heads will fit a 1991 Disco 3.5 V8. I've got to change the head gaskets etc.. and my mate has a pair of new P38 heads,so was just wondering.

P38 heads will be 10-bolt, 3.5 heads are 14-bolt.

You can fit them, and a lot of folks leave out the outside 4 bolts each side anyway, but personally I think it looks odd with the holes left open.

Why not, James? they are the outside of the heads?

Because the holes in the p38 heads are blanked of and will cover the holes. Yes they will fit

If you do use these heads composite gaskets will be required to keep the CR the same.

Is there any advantage to doing this, IE bigger valves, better oil ways,better water flow etc

just asking out of interest
