Hi all,

I could do with a roofrack for when I go on trips to the national parks, and for runs to the diy etc.

Trouble is I sometimes see people drive around town with huge full expedition roof racks on their 4x4s, which appear to be doing bugger all, but ruin their fuel economy and prevent them from getting in those car parks with pointless height restrictions. (I previously had a massive exped roofrack myself which I took off and sold for those reasons).

My disco hasn't got the standard roof bars, so I was toying with the idea of getting one of those half-length roof racks and putting it over the lower part of the roof, perhaps shortening the legs, so that it sits lower and wouldn't stop me getting in car parks. Then the idea of buying a 90 roof rack, and sticking that on. I'm assuming it might need a bit of fettling, but basically it would be long enough to cover 2/3rds of the roof.

What do you reckon?

Terrible pic but you get the idea.
