Been looking at different options for 2010-2012 Range Rovers. What would you consider the best option TDV6 or TDV8? What are the Pro's and Cons of each.
4.4TDV8 every time. If you go for the Vogue SE, ideally with a few upgrades, for example, the Harmon Kardon Sound upgrade, recognisable by the built in video screens in the front seat head rests, and if you can an autobiography upgrade then even better. 8 speed gear box is brilliant and you’ll get 30mpg or more. Don’t worry about 100k mileage, it’s nothing in this car. Not just the best engine, but in my view, the best Range Rover they ever made. And it’s not just me. Watch this.

Ahh but they both say the 3.6 is the sweet spot. They're wrong of course and I'm a 3.6 owner 😅

Just on that note...What is the 3.6 V8 like? Should this be considered?
Absolutely, some good ones about. Egr valves and turbos are weakest points, have a Google but don't let it scare you too much or you'll end up in an audi and we can't have that. You aint said what your annual mileage is, if its low don't discount a 4.2 supercharged or petrol 4.4, I struggled to find them with the 07 on interior tho and they tend to be pricier

If you're going for l322 whichever engine, have a really good look at the sills and rear arches for rust, they can rot out quite spectacularly! All hidden behind wheel arch liners and plastic sill covers

I'll be semi-retired, so not planning a lot of travel. Probably around 5k per year.

Bad experience?
No, just a really good experience of my L322. The 8 speed box makes such a difference and since the 4.4 is more economical, by quite a bit, than the 3.6 and so much more powerful, why would you compromise on a 3.6 that will cost more to run in the long run?

Ahh gotcha, I'm happy with mine so far but already warned the missus we'll be upgrading to the 4.4 in a few years 😅 unless I go petrol next time....

I do about the same so was actively looking for 4.2 sc but not many about at the time in budget. I worked it out allowing for tax, fuel, servicing, insurance etc and the petrol would only have been about 2 or 300 a year more to run with a lot less to go wrong engine wise.....

Funnily enough, I discounted the 4.4 cuz of my mileage and it having dpf but probably should have entertained it. Although I'd have to have saved a bit more to get something half decent

Really you shouldn’t pay attention to me at all. i’m an evangelist for the 4.4. I have looked at ‘upgrading’ mine, to a more recent model - and i can’t find one that is better than mine. The more I look at newer models, the more I value the one I have.
