I have a series 3 1983 - changing up from 1st to 2nd to 3rd is fine. Changing down from 3rd to 2nd, it 'grates' into 2nd gear. Any ideas why please and what I need to do to sort it?
 
learn how to double de-clutch

or replace the syncro springs, at least one of which is likely to have broken

the good news is they cost about 10p each

seeing as it's nearly xmas i won't mention the bad news
