Hi all,

Newbie asking some advice.

I have a 1995 Classic V8 and it has an LPG kit on it. There is also another battery located in the back, but I cannot seem to work out what it does!

The RR is an ex police vehicle and has jump start points front and back, would this be an explanation?

Thanks and great to be in Land Rover ownership. :beer2:

Perhaps its a sign that no one knows.

Did you really want every active member on this forum to say 'I don't know'

Why don't you follow the wires coming off it. Or, disconnect it and see what doesn't work.

Or, maybe, put some pictures up.

From all you've said so far, you've got an RRC with jump start points, and someone's left a scrap battery in the boot.

if it's ex police, chances are it's a secondary battery, which would have been fitted in conjunction with a split charge system. There was a main battery which deals with the engine and lights and usual stuff that a normal spec. car would have. Then there is a secondary battery to run all the blues and twos, additional radio equipment and so on. This then allows the engine to be turned off when the vehicle is parked, but still have for example the blue lights flashing. The benefit of this is the main battery doesn't become discharged if the blue lights are left on for a long time while the engine is turned off, say for example at a serious motorway crash where they are using the vehicle to close/block the road.

When they have finished/signed off, the vehicle will always start because the main battery is unaffected.

hope this helps, welcome to the forum, stop moaning, show some humility as you're a newb.
