235/85/16 and 750/16 Fitment

I have a Defender 90 and have been running 235/85/16 tyres and have just purchased two 750/16 tyres can I run with eg 750/16 on the front axle and 235/85/16 on the rear axle with no problems ?
I have been informed they are virtually the same size .

Get the tape measure out and see if they are the same.

Same diameter within normal wear limits, different width so yes you can.

So this would be ok to fit 235/85/16 on the rear and 750/16 on the front ?

Fitting the larger on the rear probably looks better, however the fronts do more work (steering and weight transfer when braking) so in theory they would be better on the front for normal road use. Probably no difference in the real world.

Yeah I was gonna say skinnies on the front obviously.....but then couldn't think of any reason why

I'd still put the wider on the back but then I've got a heavy fat ar$ed old girl that often gets loaded up....

I would measure the actual diameters, make sure they are the same actual size, or close together. The sizes on the sidewall are nominal sizes, not real sizes.
Width shouldn't make too much difference, provided the difference isn't ridiculously huge.
