200tdi Roof Bar Removal

Hi there all!

I am intending to remove the Factory fitted roof bars from my disco..

Has anyone done this and how?
Is it a headlining out job?
How many holes and what size holes are left in the roof to fill?
Any other info on the subject would be most helpful?

If you manage to take them out in one piece and they are not too hard to do I will have them to fit to mine!

On the TD5, it's certainly a roof lining drop, but not a complete removal. Two holes are left from each rail which are 1 3/8" diameter - a suitable rubber plug fills them nicely.

You have to take the map pockets and grab handles off then pull away the pillar covers.

I havn't got round to getting the bars off yet, but i will see how the weather goes.

I am also trying to time it so I can remove and re-seal the alpine windows in the roof while I am attacking the interior trim.
