Good Evening,

Thank you in advance.... I hope MOT is tomorrow so pretty stuck at the moment!

I have a 200tdi Discovery 5 door. Both my passenger doors seem to be seized closed. Now I climbed into the back and the mechanism seems to be working when I open the handle inside and out so I gave the door a good shove and she opened.

Now I cannot close the damm thing!! So have left the other side alone!

I have taken off the door card and exposed all the mechanism and both handles are moving the leavers to the box where the clasp is housed inside the door but the clasp is just freely moving when I push it with my finger. If I try this on the two front doors there is a lot of resistance on the clasp...

Firstly what have I done and how can I fix it!

As I don't think the MOT man will approve of a door held shut by string!

Many Thanks

Ben.

Have you tried lubricating the mechanism that clamps around the pin on the body, and lubricating the pin too. I also trimmed the plastic coating off the lock on mine as that was causing problems. I think the outer handle can be adjusted from inside the door.

I have lubricated the mechanism inside the door itself as a post said about the spring inside sometimes going awol! Although the clasp which shuts the door isn't stiff it is very loose.

It is the clasp itself which clips onto the body of the old girl seems to be the problem.

Many Thanks

Ben
