200tdi in to 300 wont go?

Hi guys,

After a bit of advice here.

I have a 300tdi engine/R380 spec discovery with no engine!
I used the engine for another project so am left stuck with a non mover! (Long story!)

I have about the place a 200tdi engine. Is it possible to fit a 200 in its place with out too much fettling?

Do i need new chassis engine mounts or will the 300tdi engine mounts fit a 200?
I plan to use the 300 turbo so hopefully there wont be any exhaust mods. I may have a 200 radiator knocking about also.

I assume the 200 will bolt straight up to the R380.

I realise that this may seem like a step backwards but they seem similar engines and i like a challenge!
I know it probably is just as easy as to jam another 300 straight in but wheres the fun in that!!

Has anyone done anything like this or have any insight?

There is a youtube video from the 'trailfitters toolbox' (I think that is the name) where they do exactly that.

I can't see that it would be too difficult, but there may well be things I haven't thought about.

you still going to use the r380?

the 300 and 200 mount differently so i'd have thought new mounts, then all the hoses and bits will need extending, bellhousing swapping

i'd just get a 300
