Dear All,

I'm fitting a 200tdi glow plug timer relay today where the PO who completed the original conversion did not install the relay, wiring straight from the ign.switch.

I note that 300tdi's have a 100A inline fuse fitted on the battery/brown wire feed, but 200tdi wiring diagrams show no fuse.

Should I plan in a fuse and, if so, what size have you guys fitted? 100A seems a little large to me...what are your thoughts...

Didn’t fit one when I did mine, and the early 200tdi I pulled my lump out of didn’t have one either.

I have never ever needed to use the glow plugs on the tdi not even in winter, unlike the NA where it sometimes needed 30seconds of glownplugs!

Can't hurt to fit a fuse, but you will need a proper sized fuse holder to handle the current.
I don't think my def has a fuse, and I did not fit one to my s2 tdi conversion.

Glowplugs not essential, but certainly help in the winetr if the battery is a bit weak.

Thanks guys, when I realised this was not fitted and aware most folk don't fit, I was not going to. But, 1. it's correct install, and 2. I will be using the old girl this coming winter in the Alpes. And this summer if Micron-Macron and his Micron Cronies allow me to get to Annecy and Le Grand Bornand

So, I'll try a 50A fuse and see if it goes BANG[!!] If so, will hit the 300tdi design with a 100A jobbie
