The exhaust on my Defender 200TDI 110, rattles against the engine block.

Theres a bracket on the exhaust that seems to bolt to the side of the engine block. Mines not bolted on here and thats where its rattling.

My question is, what size is the bolt, and can someone check whether or not there should be a rubber mount or something between the block & exhaust?

You mean the exhuast manifold isn't bolted on? Or the exhuast mount on the down pipe halfway down the passenger side of the engine block? There should be a gasket between the manifold and the head and the down pipe mount should just be bolted straight to the block. Most people leave it unblocked from the block due to ease getting it off & on. Put up a picture it would help..

Manifold is fine, its the exhuast mount on the down pipe halfway down the passenger side of the engine block that i'm on about, the exhaust is rattling against the engine here and doing my head in!

What size bolt should be in there?

Theres a bracket between the dpipe and the block, this bolts to the dpipe with 2x short m6 bolts, fiddly little sods

I wish mine had the M10, it always annoys me when undoing or trying to get the silly little M6 sods to line back up.

Mine has a single m10, not currently fitted as the hole doesn't quite line up. I really ought to slacken off each end and try and fix it to the block.
