My original Defender 200 tdi (not disco type) has got to 220,000. Still starts well but oil light on when ticking over and does not pull as it whould. Thinking of a recon/swap. Would anyone recommend someone who does that, or crank regrind etc.
There is a chap on ebay offers a recon engine for £995 here

DEFENDER DISCOVERY 200 TDI 300 TDI RECONDITIONED ENGINE | eBay

Anyone any experience of them or recommend anyone else?

seems a bit cheap for decent parts ,would seem like yours has worn shell bearings and most likely cam bearings too, you could get good disco engine and swap block assembly or look around a bit more

Spoke to him when I was thinking of my conversion. You give the old engine. What you get is just engine, no ancillaries. From what he was saying he's been going years. Does all landy engines.

Think he works as lr ltd.
