200tdi Cyclinder Head

I recently got a hold of a defender 200tdi bottom end. The cylinder head had gone hence buying only the bottom end.

My question being will a discovery head fit onto the defender block and is there any difference? If so I will just find a defender one however the disco units seem easier to source.

ayup the engines are the very same so long as its a 200 tdi defender or disco they are identical ,diference being the disco version 200 tdi has a different timing case to the defender 200 tdi also the turbo on the defender 200 tdi is mounted higher up near manifold so yes the heads are identical , however the thermostat housings are different but you can use your original housing with no probs , use all new gaskets etc also good sealant on sump gasket water pump etc also cam belt and tensioner a good idea !!! have fun ......................

Thank you for your quick reply and apologize for my extremely slow one. I managed to get a complete Defender engine for £200.00 which i thought was rather good.
