I'm sure I had posted some wanderings here a few years ago but cannot find evidence so here go's
I've a pair 3 door 200tdi Discovery's, J & L reg (also, mrs.Zed has just agreed to buy an ex MOD TUL FFR as a non-runner but thats not been collected yet so...)
anyway...
J609MUT...
metalic green carigawhatever with brown interior, 7 seats & no sunroofs
exelent workhorse & ebay bargain (£400 with 9 months MOT!) 4+ years ago.
was advertised as 'spares or repair' & the listing said 'mot till april, gearbox leaks oil' and that was about it! so messaged the seller asking if he thought it would drive back (from Peterburger(ish) to Swansea(ish) so about 200 miles & he suggested that it might need the gear-oil topping so bid placed & RAC joined...
won the auction for the opening price & went to collect.
drove up in mrs's focus with her & spares (water, 4 gallons of diesel, fuses & relays) saw MUT, said to seller I'll change the filters (also had brought some) & he said thhey would be fine so topped up with the 4 gallons of fuel to get on the road...
by coventry (about 60 miles?) the fuel was gone so stopped in motorway services & swapped fuel *& air filters - air filter was black & sorta collapsed! then got back on road with more power & drivability continuing home with nearly 40mpg recorded
had some fuel system / performance issues traced to the sedimenter being removed & the 'join' allowing air to be drawn into the fuel system eventually killing the injection-pump - first had problems with the engine not turning off with the ignition, eventually replaced the fuel stop solenoid & noticed metal fragments on the old solenoid's plunger so replaced the Injection-pump with a spare & no issues since (except a manifold gasket but that's minor!)
and earning it's living....
mot now out and a boot-floor is being fitted soon & some work on rear inner-arches (first welding since we've owned MUT)
Coincedence that i tripped over another thread here with J610MUT - what has prompted me to post this (5door https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/1992-200tdi-discovery-with-added-“crunch”.344243/ ) and I did see another in the J6**MUT range for sale probably 18 months ago (ebay, devon / cornwall??) but resisted the urge....
also have an L reg in the same fetching colour and almost identical except 5 seats & diferent rot
L625LRX was another on ebay, about 5 years ago, this time local (ish) and £450 but about 5 months mot && basically another 200tdi D1 in bits included
this came off the road 4+ years ago needing welding so I fitted a pair of inner-wings & didn't get any further
did start buying new front outer wings, bonnet & bumper but theres more needed to make tidy.
more ramblings to follow...
