L322 2007 Vogue V8 Jump Starting

Dads Range wouldnt start this morning, wouldnt even turn over, it tried but wouldnt. Then was dead.

Got the Landy out, plugged in the jump leads, being a big V8 I left it for a good 15 minutes. Should have had enough charge but still nothing!

Checked with a voltmeter Landy Batt was reading 13.9v, RR was reading 12.03v.

AAs coming out tomorrow so not overly concerned, just wanted to know why it wouldny start!
 
me landy bat dont fit, too big!
15 mins? really? I always thought 5 mins was enough!

Wasnt dead, just very low, had 9v according to the cheap plug in volt meter

Also, be careful of Halfords, I have heard they are suggesting D2 batteries that do not have the guts for the vehicle. ( yes I know it is a RR....LOL )

I went to tayna batteries, 24 hour delivery ( altho , not sure at this time of year. ) but worth a look to see what they recommend.

hmmmm thats concerning... In that case what would you suggest for a 3.6 V8 (i think)? Got to be a batt I can buy local as the RR is needed daily, almost hourly

The current batt was replaced by Halfords about 3/4 years back, done alright since then but thinking about it, it has been slwo to start on cold mornings and occasionally doesnt start first time. Plus if any of the interior lights are left on its almost dead the next day.

Just make sure the battery is correct for the vehicle. But I would expect a battery to last longer than 4 years. If you look in the owners manual it should give min spec. Or look online to see what is recommended , plus a lot of sites also state size and post location. Which is worth double checking. As mentioned the Tayna website is god to look at for reference , plus they have the buyers references there to see.

I Personally am not sure the Halfords database is 100% accurate for some vehicles. As it is a big expense i like to double check these things.

For the Vogue you need 110 Ah battery with a CCA of 920 A. Not sure if Eurocarparts is open tomorrow, or if you have one close by but they have several makes. Hope this helps. Oh and if fitting yourself you need to open bonnet to full extent to get battery in. The correct battery for the Vogue sits very snug on the battery plate and has only a couple of mm between it and the vehicle body. Also to drop it straight in depending how long your arms are, you may have to climb on engine bay ;-)
