2007 Dashboard

Has anybody thought of replacing, upgrading or fighting to fit a 2007 dashboard into an old defender/county?

I think it would look absolutly stunning, anyway it nearly has the same size.....and because i am planning in restauring or more likely resurecting my old 110 county back to life i thought why not fit a brand new bulkhead with the new dashboard and even in some how fit an AC in the engine somewere ......

Please give me all your toughts..... even to tell me i would be better off to buy a brand new one :doh: .... but as you know sentimental value has no value .... if not for the money you need to spend ....

Can anybody help as were i can buy these parts, just to plan out the costs, used, new or dismantled from any accidented new defender.

If anybody heard something about the same or similar project it would be stunning to know.

Search for Ian, AKA Porny, usually on LR4x4, or direct at IRB Developments as he can usually source bits like that.

When I worked as a LR salesman, I did a few days at the factory where we learned a fair bit about the Puma Defender. We were told that the bulkhead was hugely modified to accommodate the new dashboard. Obviously the vents have gone, but apparantly a great deal of the structure was altered as well. Exactly what they did not tell us.

Having ran the new Defender as my demo, I have to say the new dash is brilliantly laid out and the heater is so much better. I wonder if the pedal box, steering column etc is different as well?

Dave, thank you for the info, maybe since i need to change my awfully rusty bulkhead and i can not find one arround anywere, i can buy the new version 2007 with the complete dashboard and replace the whole lot? just wondering if the doors, bottom, center etc attachments and bolts are the same, as you say, will the stearing collumn be the same? etc etc .... especcially how much will it cost me to replace the whole lot..... anybody that can give info on such??

I have replaced my entire 1987 V8 dashboard with a 2002 TD 5 one no problem (3 hrs work excl. wiring). The following year I had the bulkhead replaced with a TD one, again no problem.
My specialist advised me against attempting to replace an earlier TD5 dashboard with the TDCi unless a major piece of work could be afforded, that is replacing the entire Dashboard + bulkhead unit as a single component. I also hear that someone on the forums had been able to do this - I believe from Devon 4x4!

I did the same conversion, now I bought complete 2007+ dashboard, and want to replace with it.

its not possible to buy puma defender or puma bulkhead here in Turkey.

al try an find it for you it was a few months ago now if you are a member on there just ask an one of the guys will find it for you or at least tell you what the threads called

I've been looking for that thread for a good while now, but have never discovered it lol
