Please excuse my lack of knowledge before buying my 2006 TD4 Freelander in October 2013 I have never shown any interest in what happens beneath the bonnet.

However I have now had to replace two of the pipes going to the turbo, the first being the one pictured on the right (not my engine bay just an example image) and today I have had to leave it at the garage to have the second one replaced the small one in the center of the image, as both have split.

My question is for two to go in three months, could there be something more sinister causing it to happen?

Yikes, you've paid a garage to carry out a pipe swap?

Owning a Freelander is not something I'd advise going into blindly unless you have deep pockets or are handy with a spanner!

Thanks! It's becoming a bit of a learning curve, I shall be reading lots and getting myself more prepared for Freelander ownership! Sadly I missed the early warning signs that a pipe was split this time round meaning by the time it went, I had to limp to the garage with excesses of black smoke and just get it sorted!

I will look into Silicone pipes and get myself acquainted with fitting them! :)
