I have a problem with my air suspension which I have not found an answer to on the forum so far. My suspension has raised itself automaticlly into what appears to be 'extended mode'. Sits slightly higher on drivers side. The suspension will not lower. (Manual switching of the system makes no change when all doors closed. Have also tried switch in low / high ratio gears.) Is this likely to be a valve or sensor issue?? And if so is it a simple / quick fix?

Related background to the issue: for sometime the suspension occasionally settles over night. I had assumed this to be seeping suspension bags or pipes. However as the suspension refuses to lower perhaps this is not the issue?

Thanks for any advice.

what bigs said, sensor all the way, irrespective of the settling which may be another issue, the uneven heights is a sensor problem.

check, remove, clean, replace, adjust, if necessary, renew.

great intro too.

Thanks for replies. Took to the garage this morning, requesting them to investigate possible sensor issues. After leaving the car the driver side air bag apparently 'exploded' ! So will need to at least replace air bags and sensors.
1. Is this a known issue, I would assume they should have a release valve?
2. Is the problem likely to be sensor or compressor valve related - and if so how should I check to establish?
Thanks for any advice

Air spring bags have a design life of 7/8 years 80K miles. If one went bang, it will be because it was worn out unless the garage thought it a good way to empty your wallet. The compressor will not produce enough pressure to pop the bag and there will be a safety pressure relief valve in the system.

Bag exploded because of a faulty sensor, the faulty sensor would have sent a signal to the compressor to supply more air, which in turn has blown your bag, when one side raises higher than the other, best not to drive but to pull the fuse and relay and let out some air from the valve at the compressor, disconnect the battery and replace the faulty sensor.
Very much a DIY job

A faulty height sensor can blow an airbag on a Disco? Where is the safety valve? The bag should be able to withstand maximum line pressure without failing unless it's knackered.

Taken from the How To - Definitive Guide

Over inflation on one side or the other is a sign of a defective ride height sensor; this will pump the air bag to the max and will cause the front to dip down on the opposing side. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR if this happens, Get it recovered and replaced immediately! Air bags have exploded due to over inflation. At any road speed this could be lethal... believe me, they go with a bang!!!
