2003 td5 warning lights

last night after a motorway dash the engine started dipping intermittently like there was a problem with the fuel after a short trip this morning the amber engine light came on along with the green "M" & "S" lights blinking together,got home the short distance in limp home mode,now after a couple of hours everything seems back to normal,no lights etc,guessing it wont be the last time though,what do you reckon have i got a big problem and please be frank as i am sitting down :doh: thanks for looking

M & S lights together are the auto box saying they have a fault. I had this probvlem when I put the car through a car wash with underbody spray - reckon the water went in the WXYZ switch which is on the side of the gearbox. When this happens, gearbox goes into limp home mode and tries to start you off in 3rd gear!

If you're engine light is coming on at the same time, there may be a problem with the engine and auto box electronics not talking to each other. Get a friendly garage to read the fault codes to get the full picture.

Thanks for the reply,just got the car back from the local garage
and it seems the problem was a faulty
accelerator pedal,new pedal fitted and seems perfect.....so far
fingers crossed.Thanks again
