Some advice required for my newly acquired Td5 Defender 90 (53 plate) please. Not a mechanic but not (too) daft so if these are common questions and easy fixes please let me know...

1. At slow speed only, large turns of steering wheel eg. to full lock give vibration/rubbing feeling through steering wheel, which is also audible.

2. Leaks in top forward corners on both driver and passenger door. In the same place, about 1in back from corner closest to windscreen. Coming through headlining. Ponding up I think as it tends to rush out when turning corners or going downhill.

3. Windscreen seal well cracked but not leaking. Quoted £60 parts and labour to replace. Do it or wait 'til it leaks and then do it (my current decision)?

4. Currently have 5 brand new (approx 300 miles covered) steel wheels on the vehicle, with 5 brand new michelin latitude cross 7.5/16 tyres. Would like to keep tyres but change to alloys. Cheapest way to do this? Do people ever want to swap alloys back to steels? Will the tyres fit on a 16in Discovery alloy for example?

5. Thinking of changing door hinge screws to stainless. Are they captive nuts or will it involve taking interior panels off (in which case I probably can't be arsed)

Thanks in advance and very sorry for being cheeky with a list :D

1 is most likely tyres rubbing on radiusa arms you can adjust the lock stopbolt on front of each swivel housing

Yer motor is cursed cos you have gone to live in Devon! :D

2. I filled top gutter with thin smear of silicon on my defender and a 03 discovery solved the problem on both. (or park facing down hill)
3. £60 seems cheap i'd go for it. Not going to get any better.
5. Captive bolts loads of kits on e bay but have an impact screwdriver to hand to start them off and do one hinge at a time. (Door alignment is a pig of a job!)
1. Steering box?
