Got a picture? I thought all FL1s after the 2001 update got a passenger airbag. Unless the lower spec models didn't.

Is this a statement or a question? If the latter, would it be possible for you to provide less information and make it even more vague. ;)

Whats vague about it i will itemize it for you
1 passenger air bag not there
2 did it leave the factory like this
3 there is a cubbey hole were the air bag would be
4 would this cubbey have a lid LOL

You can remove your VIN and REG No now. ;)

It says driver airbag only, so I'm assuming the original purchaser opted not to have the passenger airbag.

You can check what else it has here. https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-lookup/SALLNABE73A284431

Hope that helps?

Wonder where that site gets its info from? VINs only hold so much info, the rest will be from other records.

Tried the site on one of my cars and it comes back with utter garbage:

Style - Coupe 2dr
Body Style - 4dr Sedan
Overall height - 5.8in 😂
Standard Seating - 5 people
Tyres - 235/50/18

The car is a 2+2 coupe and only 1 of the above facts are actually true.

Not saying it can't be a useful reference. But I'd maybe take any and all of the info it provides with a pinch of salt.

The site wants me to pay for details on mine.
This seems to have been added for newer cars. My FL2 comes up no problem, as it did with my i6, and the daughter's Fiat 500.
However if I put my wife's Audi A5 convertible's VIN in, it wants me to pay to get the information, so I went to a dedicated Audi site instead.

There was no lid on the cubby hole. I’ve had a Masai from new back in the day, and it was delivered like that. Now have a Serengeti and that has the same empty space. I could do with swapping in an airbag for a bit of additional safety, but the cubby box and grab handle are useful too. I wonder anyway if after 20 years the airbags are still functional. Anyway.

You can have a fairly minor front knock if the towing eye hits something solid and it will deploy the front airbags. In the case of the passenger one the cover flies up and smashes the windscreen.
If you often drive on your own you might be better off without as it's more repairable without.
Airbag deployment is usually an excuse for the insurance company to declare it Cat B (must be crushed) even if it's totally repairable so if you like the car and this happens consider fitting used parts and don't get them involved.
