2002 Freelander 1 Door Card Clips

Hi All, new to this forum, so apologies for any incorrect syntax.

My daughter has a 2002 Freelander 1 2.0 TD4 and I have just replaced a door lock actuator and a window regulator - all common faults with the dear old Landy! While this procedure went well, a couple of the door card clips got broken. I have purchased some MWC9134 replacements, but for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out how to remove the head of the original clips from the door card. I am probably missing something extremely simple, but it is passing me by at the moment. If anyone could give me some advice on how to replace these I would be very grateful.

Many thanks for the reply. While I see this could work if the snapped clip was being removed from the door panel itself, I cannot quite understand how it would work removing the snapped clip from the door card? My reasoning for this would be that if it were as simple as screwing in a screw and pulling it out, then this would naturally occur when removing the door card from the door panel, or am I being particularly dim here? Throughout my career I have come across snapped door card clips and they are quite simply attached to the door card through a hole and then slotted down into a groove. However, the Freelander door card does not appear to have this arrangement. Again, perhaps I am being a little dim.

Don’t feel stupid, is little things like this catch everyone out at somepoint with a LR.

That why we have a ‘no such thing as silly questions’ rule.
Still there are ones that don’t apply to this rule

Aaah yes, now you point it out I can see the groove. Many thanks RangeRoller, should be able to replace them easily now. Just as a matter of interest, what is the nut shaped bit for in the middle of the clip? I assume now that you have explained the pin and groove, it helps turn the head on the pin to fix into the card?

Well I cannot speak for you and Brian, but I certainly am slowly going nutty - but there is definetly a hexagonal between the door card and the fixing point that goes into the door panel. On further reflection it might just be a spacer type of thing, but no idea why it should be hexagonal. BTW, these are the original clips, or at least the ones that were affixed to the card when I removed it. Hey ho, perhaps I dreamt it.
 
From what I can see an FL1 should indeed have these door card pins :confused:

Wonder if a previous owner has glued them
on or something strange like that? o_O:rolleyes:

Personally I would carefully cut the old ones off with a sharp Stanley :eek: JUST THE BIT YOU ARE REPLACING
You will only need one to see what is happening, pick a less important one like along the bottom to test
