I have slight movement on the steering shaft where it goes through the firewall, causing a sound occasionally. I have replaced parts where I had play, one steering link ball joint(tie rod end?) and parts that were not faulty(complete lower steering shaft - universal joints).
There seem to be 3 bolts that secure it to the firewall, but 2 face towards the engine and one nut is at the foot well. The 2 that are inside the engine compartment is hidden behind the thick sound damper. Once the dust cover has been pulled back one can see the shaft but far enough to see what is down there.
The problem is that nobody can tell me what is inside the housing, a bush or a bearing and then of course the best way to get it out.
