hi has anybody removed the diesel tank , i tried this evening to remove it but it seems imposible, according to info i got its simple just remove the 2 rear bolts on the cross member and remove 2 bolts that are at the front of the tank under the floor and the tank will drop down , but i cant find these bolts at the front and the protection seems to be welded as well as bolted together, it seems that i can just about slide the protection plate that is under the tank but it would be next to impossible to put it back is there a simple way of removing the tank as i have to clean it out ,last owner ran on bio and the tank is full of black jelly type **** that has cost me an arm and a leg

I had new fuel pump fitted in my 110 and the easiest way was too cut a hole in the floor then get an access fuel cover for a disco 1 for a fiver to fill the hole back in after and screw it to the floor

thanks graham it seems stupid that landrover designed the tank protection like that , i thought landrover defenders could be repaired with a hammer and some juice friut thought, im going to have a look at it tommorow and see can i modify it the cradle so that the tank can be dropped easily , i will let you know how i get on
