200 tdi no charging light

hi my battery was flat on my landrover 90 tdi I charged the battery and noticed the battery light was not on . any one any ideas.

check you have a voltage at ignition wire on back of alt with ignition on

to help anyone I femoved plug at back of alt eathed out thin brown wire that put light on , renewed alt all ok.
