200 tdi fuel priming

I have just replaced the lift pump on my 200 tdi and seem to be having some problems getting the system bled and primed. It looks as though I've got air in the main injection pump. What's the best procedure to get it primed through?

Crack each of the fuel pipe union nuts, on top of each injector in turn, whilst someone cranks it over.

Or crack them all off and turn it over, once diesel has spilled from each union do them back up and try starting.

Ah never had to bleed all mine through, just bled the filter and never had any probs. See....

I've primed the filter through fine. Just seems as though the main pump has got a gulp of air in. I'll try bleeding it out at the fuel valves tomorrow. Thanks for the replies.

The bosch pumps self bleed - do you have the shutoff solenoid connected up again?

I've not actually done anything with the injection pump, apart from cracking the odd banjo connection to try to get the air out. I'll definately check the wiring on the stop solenoid. I may have caught a lead when rummaging around in there.
