Hi there, been a while since I posted on here.

It is with heavy heart that I have reached the conclusion that I probably ought to sell my treasured 1993 200tdi hard top. Red with white roof.

I have had her for 3.5 years, done a fair bit of work, but have never used her enough to warrant keeping 2 cars on the road, so I am afraid the time has come. I know I will regret it when the snow comes, but the costs of insuring, MOT every year, etc etc, are just getting too much with a family to keep and other car on the road.

A very original, pretty much unmolested example, original 200 tdi, 110000 miles, new rear 1/4 chassis, water pump, power steering pump, stainless steel roof cage, upgraded transfer gear (ashcrofts cross drilled), long list of work carried out on the email. One for someone looking for a real original example, never been offroaded by me.

I am not advertising elsewhere at the moment, as I am not desperate to sell.

I would like to see £4000, I have an email with pictures, and details of all the work I have done or had done, so please PM me if interested with your email address.

No dealers, agencies or general timewasters please.

Land Rover 90 - Defender 200 TDi 1993

(ORIGINAL 200 TDI factory fitted engine)

Red Hardback, Diesel

In last 3 years (since I got it) - work carried out:

Replaced complete rear 1/4 chassis and waxoyled complete chassis (outside).
Polybushes fitted to approx 50% of vehicle.
New rear shocks and new brackets welded to rear axle housing.
New Water pump.
New Power steering pump.
Fitted solid stainless steel roof rack cage. This is the best roofrack for a landy you will ever see.
Replaced transfer gear with new Ashcrofts crossdrilled upgrade
Rear bench seat fitted on 1 side, and carpeted rear of vehicle to match
4 winter tyres fitted, loads of tread left.
Chequer plate rear wing corners fitted in black.
Rear step fitted.
Battery isolator switch fitted (for security).
Rear wheel bearing and seals changed on 1 side.
Clutch master and slave cylinders changed 2013.
New air filter and housing fitted 2013.
Timing belt changed.
Oil filter changed.

this is as much as I can remember, there are probably more bits and pieces that I have forgotten, but that's the bulk of it

Drives well, mileage 110000 from new, previously owned by farmer – lots of history, MOTs etc.

Pretty much un-molested, very close to original spec, bodywork has the usual dinks here and there but pretty good remember this is 20 years old.

Doors are not bad, I have strengthened them at the bottom on the inside.

Never fails to start, first time every time even when left for weeks without use.

I have never been off road in this, so the chassis is still in very good condition since the rear 1/4 was fitted in 2010.

£4000. Cash or cleared funds.

May consider very close offers but please don't waste my time, if you want a cheap one, then look on eBay, and then pay to do all the above work on it Smile

Tax and MOT Dec 2013.

Private sale.

Its just a land rover, prob worth 2500 or maybe a bit more, try and bull it up on ebay you might do better:)

thanks for the advice guys, maybe I am being over optimistic, I would however invite offers, I would like to see it go to someone who understands what they are buying, and to be honest I really dont fancy having the tyre kickers and agents on the phone every 5 minutes, so if anyone is seriously interested ignore my original price and drop me a pm. Or call 07764 181141. Cheers. John.

On the contary, I think £3,750 is a very good price for both parties TBH.

Muggings here paid £5,000 for a slightly higher spec ( but lot older ) and if this had come up at the time I would have bought it ( seriously ).

Land Rovers don't fly off the shelf; try a few other LR websites etc ( gumtree or preloved etc ) all are free.

Good luck with the sale, tis a good sounding Land Rover :)

P.S. Sold my Lightweight last year for a lot less than I could have got if I had been a bit more patient...lessen learned for me :-(
