20 year old disco emmisions

hi changed the oil and the air fuel and oil filter about 8 week back , have just been to mot and failed on emmisions have had a look through older posts and most seem to recomend injector cleaner stuff in filter and blast it....is that that sounding about right.... smoke is very sooty when revved hard ie by mot tester any ideas lads n lasses

get some biodiesel in it, mine had a reading of 1.35 last week, he told me that was very good.

im running it on cooking oil and diesel a mix of 50/50

and it still failed

you have something wrong there.

could it be burning engine oil?

burning engine oil .. dunno how would i know that and what would i do to stop it

just read on another forrum about putting half a bottle of meths in fuel b 4 test any ideas on this?

The taxi drivers round here use Forte and swear by it, you can get it on ebay.

was the engine nice and warm when the test was done?

my tester takes it for a 5 min drive just before he dose the emmision test,

Aye, engine oil has to be at a minimum temperature before they can do the test.
80*C iirc.

could always turn it down on metre screw on back of pump , it wont pull as well but may get you through test. And yes they do give them welly on emision test

Put some 2-stroke oil in it.

It'll clean it out whilst giving it lube, some peeps say put petrol in with the deisel to clean out top end, yes but it will strip the lube from the top of your cylinders and you don't want to do that.
