Hi there everyone i have recently asked about fitting a 300 tdi disco engine into my 109 pick up but have now been advised it would be easier to fit a 2.5na engine are they any good does anyone have one for sale?the engine ive removed is a 2.5 but its knackered any help much appreciated i can buy one but been stood 5 years!

put a tdi in but if from a disco you will have to change engine mountings also bell housing
if you put disco box in then you will have to get rid of centre seat and modify abit
200/or 300tdi both good engine
2.5n/a are slow and slugish you will get bored quickly
hope this helps

200 tdi from defender is the easy one, from disco a bit more to do but either will transform your vehicles driverbility.Look up how to do it on this forum.

Got a 2.5na 90. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend buying a vehicle with one already fitted for offroading or green laning. Plenty power when in low range.

But......

I wouldn't recommend going to all that work and expense to fit one. Definitely go for a 200tdi, more power and better fuel consumption. Also wouldn't be that much harder to fit if a defender one. If a disco engine a little more difficult but worthwhile.

200tdi with 300tdi exhaust manifold+turbo
no need to change bellhousing as they mate up
use disco centre plate +series pressure plate
series engine mounting then have fun making
up an exhaust system took me a day to get
engine in two days ish for exhaust wiring
and sorting the cooling system well worth the
time and effort Good luck Stuart
