Yep sure has. Oil will go black though. Never seen a diesel that didn't and i have seen quite a lot of them. :D:D

true , im hoping regular oil changed and maintince will help keep her alive for longer , she is for sale at the moment but till sold she will still be treaded as such

on the black engine oil note , we have an Iveco truck in work done 800.000kms and the oil is like brand new , we serviced it around 30,000kms ago last time

As i said i have never seen a diesel engine without black oil and also as i said i have seen a bloody lot of them in my time. In the old days it was standard practice to run 50% paraffin and 50% engine oil through them to flush the system. But never was totally successful.

seen a few , mainly the newer ones are clean like this truck

as for oil id just use mineral in your engine its not worth spending more money on

So what about using mineral oil, yea or nay or keep with the semi.

Use whatever you want to. Semi synthetic and in particular fully synthetic is designed for the elevated running temps now used the extended service routines. Diesels should have the oil and filter changed ever 6000 miles or so to keep them tip top. So if you want to spend money on expensive oil that is up to you. Mineral oil at that service mileage is more than good enough.

Well I did flush with diesel, empty old oil when warm. filled with diesel, run engine for 40 secs, seemed to sound better:jaw:, empty old gunk, filled with oil ran for few minutes to pick up residue of diesel, drained oil and poop, fitted new filter and new oil and will drive a few days and drop the oil and filter and put new gear in.

Personally I think full syn is worth the extra, but then I intend keeping the car until they bury me. 116K and the modulation is still good so the chains must be OK.

I to have changed to fully synthetic oil, i purchased mobile1 10w60 for higher milage engines(108000) although it cost me £65 the engine is quieter and i have noticed that the temperature gauge sits slightly lower than before.
PS, Thanks for you MOD details Datatek.

I run 5W40, it uses no oil between services, turns over better on cold starts too:D:D
