hello all not quite sure whether its because i,m used to driving my 3.9 but i,ve noticed on a couple of m/way journeys i,ve got my foot not far off touching the floor at 50mph.i,m having to full release and start again but what bothers me is when the kickdown is applied the rpm shoots up to not far off the 5rpm mark?is this normal for the 2.5 engine.thanks craig

:(thats not quite the answer i was looking for but i did half expect it.so what after hitting the kickdown should the rpm go up to.maybe i,m hoping the cables in need of adjustment.i,ve checked the gearbox oil and its over-filled by half inch would that have anything to do with it.

my auto goes up to about 4 thou revs on kickdown,i would drain the atf out if i was you,not all of it just the overfill.did you take the car for a run before you checked the oil,or did you do it cold and just go through the gears.??

oil was checked cold after running through the gears.i,ve been told over-filling these autoboxes can seriously damage your health and your bank balance:)i,m doing a engine oil/filter change tommorowso i,ll drain a little atf fluid out and see how it goes.

There is no cable to adjust on diesels it is done electronicaly. They are fly by wire and the speed the potentiometer arm moves is picked up to activate kick down. 1/2" overfill is about a pint so not too bad. The reason you don't overfill autos is that pressure buildup as the oil heats and expands blows the seals out.
