Hi

I've got two Freelanders and have got a problem with the older one.

Bought it just recently it's 2001 reg but only has 11900 miles on the clock - genuine! (It came from the Isle of Man) Its a 2.5 V6.

When we got it home, a distance of about 100 miles there was a lot of steam coming out the bonnet and there was bubbling and gurgling from the coolant system. (Temp gauge steady in the middle)

It's been to the garage to get looked at and they have Pressure tested it, checked for a coolant leak, fitted a new header tank, cap and changed/topped up the antifreeze.

Driven it home (about 22 miles) (temperature gauge in car reads spot on) and as we pulled on the drive and got out - with the engine still running - the radiator fans were running like mad.

Turned off the engine and the fans stopped for a few seconds then kicked back in again for a good few minutes then stopped.

Question is, is this normal on this engine? Given it is freezing cold outside is it normal for the fans to be blasting away?

I really, really would like some advice as we've got 3 months warranty and want it sorted if there is a problem/potential problem.

Thank you so much!

Hi, I've just found your post and just wondered if you had fixed your problem? We have just purchased a 2001 Freelander V6i ES and it overheats. Its had new engine, pump etc.
