2.5 p38 lacking in power?

Yeah lots of things. Give it a good service. Change all filters Air/fuel. Clean out intercooler.Check turbo hoses are free from internal delamination.
Check that pipe is sound from manifold to MAP sensor on fuel filter brkt. Have injectors refurbed. After you have done all that and it still lacks power think about buying a power box for it. But don't fit a power box to mask all the things you should have done before you fitted it.

Has something changed? how do you mean lack of power, low top speed or slow to pull away etc?

Yep ideally make sure you bought a manual gearbox model and fit a PSI PowerBox + K&N Filter.
