Hi all, I have a chirruping noise from front centre of engine. I think it may be the idler on the belt tensioner. Is this a commom problem with the diesel. thanks for any input.

try and remove the belts and hand check the pulleys and water pump. If in doubt, run the engine briefly with all removed to verify your engine doesn't have my issues.....good luck! ;)

dont get a britpart or allmakes, they are sh*te... Better off with febi, gates or dayco if you get them. I ordered the full kit belts and pulleys. Buggered after four months. Grinding pulleys and cracked belts.....

hi all , dealer has been on,there are 2 part no for the pulley and is not sure which one I want STC2128 and STC 2132 Im not sure myself .Its a 99 2.5 diesel. Anybody know which one I need (its the one at the bottom of the tensioner) thanks in advance

I think you need STC2128

renew them both for the sake of a few pounds and it might save you doing them again in the near future

+1

I had one go bad on me and resulted in the bearings collapsing. Not what you want in the middle of nowhere in the winter. (Yes my engine bay was filthy. It has been cleaned since this photo was taken)

Another common fault is the angle bracket that holds the idler pulley can break and cause problems
