I'd find the BMW part number and then ask them, just to see. You might be surprised. Might be worth trying Vauxhall too as the same engine went in their Omega.

After that the usual suspects like Rimmer Bros or maybe Diesel Jones in Manchester have some refurbished ones? Last resort (but cheap) try eBay!

Hi Datatek,
Well, sometimes difficult to start from cold, initial smoke screen and sometimes erratic running.. I've had the fuel pump refurbished (ouch £££) but content with knowing it's done now... Injectors were mentioned at the same time... So, I thought....

Difficult to start from cold is usually glow plugs

Thanks all, yes to Glow Plugs too possibly, but I also have a leak from one of the injectors which I have new pipe for... I know all this will cost, but see injectors as a service part really...then I'll know the history of the fuel injection system as I do intend keeping this P38…..
Thanks for the input all,
Titch

Any fuel leak is an air leak meaning fuel dropping back to the tank... Long start/crank. 👍

Thanks chaps! Indeed yet to look at the 'leak' this weekend.. can I just simply cut my new pipe and change all individually and will the engine bleed them naturally.. the leak off pipes that is (spill pipes??) ?
Also, I had used injector cleaner when I first had this P38.. yes thank you, probably not a bad idea again..

Ok thanks again,
I'll do the leak off pipe's this weekend... I do have new pipe.. and I'll add some cleaner in the fuel.
The injection pump was refitted by a trusted friend, that was leaking too, but yes it performed much better too after he set that up.. it's just that the car is starting to smoke badly after an overnight first start up.. it does clear, but an embarrasing initial start up.
I'll let you know..
Thanks,
Titch

White smoke on start up is usually unburnt fuel from bad glow plugs

My injectors are original on a 1995 and past 180k miles. Didn't look bad when I had them out last year.
