Me series 2 1/4 petrol engine starts, runs and idles fine. It has a Webber carb fitted which seems all in good order.I tweaked up the idle speed as the engine kept stalling and for the most part its fine.
When engine is upto running temp when coming upto a junction, puts me foot on the clutch and the fooker dies  quick turn of the key and off she goes.

Any ideas ??????

Put the choke back in?

(the cable is intact and moving the butterfly)

Did you set the idle with the engine at running temperature?

Sounds like carb icing. I have just removed my weber because of this. Gone back to a rebuilt Zenith and all is well. My weber was working very well up until this latest cold snap.

Mine was doing that: turned out to be the coil. When it was hot (working temp) the internal insulation was breaking down and at tickover it just stopped because the spark was feeble. That engine had a 34ICH Weber for years and worked fine. Of course, it could be the carb.................
