Last night on my way home I thought "I've not used diff lock or low range in a year I'll just make sure they still engage" so I pulled up on the car park with the wheels straight and tried to select low range but it wouldn't engage. I then tried to revert to normal but no luck. After messing around back and forth a couple weeks of times it selected normal and I parked it up thinking that I'll sort it when I'm off. Today I tried to pull away but no drive after messing I managed to reverse into the car park but lost drive again and then for me it back before it went again. After messing about I got it parked.

Tomorrow I'll get under it and make sure there isn't muck stopping it but do they need adjusting or will it just be muck? The diff lock light is showing when I select diff lock so it's still connected. I had to use my wife's car so not with it now and I'm on a break.

Any ideas?
 
maybe that it isnt actually engaging the transfer box, i can make my difflock light light up and not be in either high or low, linkage probably gummed up or a pin has come out maybe
 
Don't think its a diff lock issue, sound more like a high/neutral/low selection problem. Have you tried keeping pressure on hi/lo selector while trying to slowly pull away in first gear? sometimes the transfer box needs a bit of rotation to let the gears engage
 
I had this when I bought a 110 laid up for 6 years. It felt like the transfer box lever was in high but it was seized solid. Stuck between high and neutral but no drive. Very easy to do. Remove middle seat and underneath there's a rectangular plate held on with 8 or so bolts. Remove it a grease/lubricate the selecting rod.
 
Mine wss like this after i got it. The previous owner never used it so first time i did i got stuck in low difflock.

Now I use difflock and or low range when i park it up to make sure it doesnt happen again.
 
I was hoping that it was just a bit of crud stopping the linkage moving it's full distance. I will have to have a look tomorrow when I get up..... hopefully a quick fix.

Yes, tried that. I've just looked out of the window and it's not looking good..... Will still have a look today but tonight is my last shift till mid January so plenty of time to sort it and a small list of other jobs and upgrades before I'm back (all my leave added around Christmas woohoo)
 
Well it turned out to be part of the transfer box. The hi-lo lever pulls a lever attached to a shaft and there is another lever at the other end which pushes a shaft in and out. The shaft is located in an assembly which bolts onto the top of the transfer box and is attached by 6 bolt. The assembly can be seen here upside down. The final lever is attached to the shaft with a bolt which has a round section at the end but mine had come undone. All cleaned up and bolt refitted with fresh Loctite. Now it's all working and the hi-lo/diff lock is working ready for any snow.

Lol you know what I mean :D least it wasn't fubar'd gearbox inners!
