Hi all finally bought my first land rover. It's a land rover 90 on a D reg plate. It's got a 2.5 turbo 19j engine in it, unfortunately due to a badly fitted head gasket the landie died after driving it 35 ish miles. Not the greatest of starts really. But all the more reason for me to slap in a new engine! But i'll post me questions about that in the appropriate section. So any help will be greatly apprieciated.

i would have took it straight back to where i bought it from, and got them to fix it or get my money back

yep... what he said! plus that 19j is notoriously temperamental... whatever happens good luck and welcome.

Well i bought it from a farmer who we have had alot of dealling with before and he is normally very reliable. Truthfully i think he let one of his sons change it and didnt check if they had done it right. I got back onto him about it and he was going to give me a full refund but in my opinion and the guys who helped me buy it, the landie was in too good of a condition concerning everything else to let slip away for the price we paid. So i managed to get a few hundred quid back off the farmer for replacing the engine. Ive been told the 19j was a notorious engine but i was planning on a conversion anyway so its only brought my timetable for that forward by about 6 months is all.
