Hi All

I haven't posted online before but have found lots of info on this forum so decided to register and give it a go. I hope someone can help, perhaps I could do the same for someone else at some point too. :)

I am in desperate need of a compressor wheel for the '88 19J Turbo I am rebuilding at the moment. (Garrett T2 type Turbocharger 466842-2)

I managed to get my hands on a rebuild kit without a problem and have stripped the turbo. Unfortunately, there is some damage to the compressor wheel (intake side) and I have been trying without luck to source the part.

If any body knows where I could get one or has a turbo for sale that I could strip for parts or is / was still running that would be great.

Not sure of this helps but here is the part number for the compressor wheel:

410450-0013

I'm trying to get the thing back together before the end of next week, when I am due to go away, so I need all the help I can get!

Many thanks

Cheers for the replies guys.

Another forum member is sending a turbo to me as we speak - all being well I'll nab the compression wheel from that one or use it as it is!

As for balancing, the Garrett turbos are supposed to be component balanced so providing there is no damage you can just pop new parts (normally just bearings and circlips) in without a problem (if you're still worried about balance you could always make an alignment mark on the components before dismantling).

You could also take the turbo to a specialist to have it balanced (esp if its a recon and been balanced as a unit (look for file marks on the turbine shaft nut where material has been removed to balance the unit)) and still save £s on the refurb - its surprisingly simple (just a few bolts, torx fasteners and circlips) - can't beleive how much some places charge for a recon!

I'm still half looking for a compression wheel to get this turbo back together mind you - no reason not to have a spare when your driving a land rover!

If anybody has one going spare just let me know... :bounce:

i have a 19J turbo and outlet manifold complete and in good working order and just got it off the net. how ever the seller had the add as a 200tdi turbocharger which it turned out to be a 19J turbo and not a 200tdi so i can not use it as i am in the need of a 200tdi turbo from a defender. if you like you can contact me and i will sell this unit to you and you don't have to strip down anything and just install this complete on your rover.
thanks Mike

The 19j has to different kinds of turbo, the inlet manifolds are different and not interchangeable, they dont make the early one anymore and finding one wont be easy.
So be careful if you have an early engine.
