Hello Landy folks, I'm having an intermitent problem with the air susy on me disco II. Me thinks its the HR sensors but before I start beating the crap out of em with a big spanner I thought I'd run it by you chaps and chapess's to see if it is a common fault. Ocassionally I get a lowering of the back left air bag and sometimes both, but no real pattern has emerged. There doesnt appear to be a leak in the bags because I would assume that it would happen all the time. This seams to be linked to The TC, ABS, and HDC lamps coming on on the dash board under normal road conditions and the compressor gives out 3 or 4 bursts when the engine is switched off,( the compressor gives the odd burst while driving but I put that down to it doing its job via the ACE module). The question would be are they tinkerable with or sealed units and or is it better just to put new ones on?

Cheers:confused:

Cheers owl very good info sorry late getting to reply but workin away for a while, still think I should beat it with a big spanner though

Air bags can sometimes stay up for ages and then sometimes drop each time you park. They seem to seal themselves depending on how the car is parked.

Try jacking up the rear sus to off road height and spray the bags with soapy water, this should show up the air leaks.

Thanks for that, ACE light came on the other day, might have to go and get it plugged into a computer and see what's going on!!

Fine thanks apart from the nervous twitch and feelings of paranoia normally associated with disco II ownership, has it got to you yet ?

Thanks, I've done that once but with no discernible results, I think I'll drop the balloons off and inflate with a compressor see if that can pinpoint any thing. Was thinking of going to springs but have heard I might need a re-map because of the ACE system, do you know?

The back should drop 2cm when you turn it off. I find with mine that if I'm putting weight in and out of the back shortly after running it, when the suspension is still setting itself, either the left side RH sensor or pressure release valve sticks and dumps all the air out. Switch it back on and it pumps straight up.

I'm not touching it til the day it doesn't pump up again in case I make it worse :D

ACE has nothing at all to do with the Air suspension.
Should you decide to change to springs then you will need someone with a
Nanocom or Hawkeye to switch off the SLS via the ECU.
I think this is a backward step personally and find that the SLS system is one of the easiest to work on.

Should you have an ACE problem that is a separate issue, most probably the transducer in the ACE block.

or this may be worth a read when the time comes

Run the engine with the doors shut so the suspension levels, then turn the engine off open the tail door and jack up under the tow bar to lift the car about 3", remove the jack and watch. if the rear goes down to the bump stops you need new air bags.
