Hi
We have decided to sell our White Discovery 300tdi Commercial (manual). It has MOT until 17/05/2013, and tax until 28/02/2013.
Mileage 153927
We have owned it for 2.5 years, and have done less than 10,000 miles in it. It has 2in lift, but still has anti roll bars as was intended to be a road/recovery vehicle, but has had little use as such.
4x all terrain tyres on freestyle alloys, plus spare on a steel rim in the back.
New Safari snorkel fitted at local LR specialist when we first got the van, for looks rather than use, was tested at installation but hasn't been off road, so no actual experience of it.
We fitted it with 2 batteries, removable drop-plate tow ball,New Alternator, new water pump, new timing belts and gears, and a complete Decat exhaust system all 2yrs ago,
Last May (2012) replacement refurbished steering box from Paddocks, and had both Rear Sills welded by local LR specialist prior to MOT. Has done less than 500 miles since then.
Lent to a driver to collect a colleague last week, who when he returned said 'it's smoking a bit'. I have looked at it today, and there is lots of white smoke pouring out of the exhaust, so we have decided to sell as now is our busiest time of year workwise and we can't have 2 vehicles off the road, it is silly.
Other bad points include a dent in rear quarter near bumper where my husband was towing me with a straight bar in my 200, and I caught up with it:eek: and some rusting around the skylight windows.
£1500 or nearest offer, viewings possible but need arranging as is in a secure carpark. Lots of pics available, please ask if you would like more emailing.

And your ad was reading so well until the smoking bit, I was actually considering making an offer.....So does the white smoke mean it's using coolant and therefore likely head gasket failure?

I think so, i personally haven't driven it for weeks tho. we just don't have the time to look into it, 2 discos both off the road at christmas rush (in shop delivery terms) is useless so one has to go, and with 3 kids it is better to spend the time we DO have on the 7 seater :(

Trying to hold out for £1000, as I think we need to spend at least that to get ruby properly sorted and back on the road......:(

What's it like in the usual rust traps - boot floor, footwells, sills, inner wings, bottom of A & B pillars, chassis??
Only saying as if all that's sound then make it known, it's only a head gasket job so someone somewhere will snap it up for sure, I would if it wasn't for time being my biggest enemy ;)

underneath is all fine. the local landrover specialist welded up the sills for the last MOT as they were rusting, but other than that is solid. the boot floor is all sealed, which i thought was standard on a commercial?? As far as Dean and i can remember it is all ok, (one disco does look very much like another underneath, but this is definitely NOT one of the ones that caused us nightmares (they were the 200's) ;))
It is 'just' the head gasket, but as in the OP, 2 poorly engined discos is too much. so I can completely relate to the time being the enemy thing! :D

I have been told to get it on fleabay, but would much rather 'luke' went to some one who would love him like we do.

pictures of underneath and interior as requested:)

the mesh bulk head has had a central hole cut in it, not sure why!
seats are ok, no rips, although a bit grubby from being a workhorse.
the spare wheel holder was removed from the back door and attached to the bulk head to prevent the wheel being stolen whilst parked up.
pictures of arches, and underneath from the rear to show general condition.

please contact me for more info or pics or to arrange viewings.
